The Orliman single-sided hernia band is one of the best-selling groin fractures in Europe for a low abdominal wall or inguinal hernia in the groin region. The single inguinal hernia band features a simple closure strap and one pad on the right or left side (where you have the inguinal hernia). Keeping pressure on the abdominal wall or groin fracture is very important to prevent the fracture from getting bigger. You can wear this band both before and after surgery, or to prevent the enlargement of pre-existing inguinal hernia (s) (Hernia Inguinalis).

How to measure
For optimal performance and maximum comfort, it is important to select the correct size. With the Orliman inguinal hernia belt, this is very simple: measure the circumference at the level of the hip bone and find the corresponding size in the table below. If your measurement falls between two sizes, choose the larger size.

NB: The Orliman inguinal hernia requires little maintenance. You only wash the fracture belt by hand with a mild detergent without bleach or fabric softener. After washing, strip this groin fracture belt of moisture by pressing (do not wring) and dry the fracture belt out of reach of a heat source, in the air. For hygienic reasons, it is recommended to use two fracture belts and to wear and wash them alternately.

It takes some getting used to, but the hernia belt does what it’s supposed to do, and it does it well! It’s a solid product. It gets even better when the manufacturer burns the ends of the stitching with a flame. This prevents the stitching from coming undone.

The hernia belt does what I expect it to. Until a month ago, I used two appropriately taped strips of sports tape and two gauze pads to provide pressure on the hernia. That’s no longer sufficient for an egg-sized hernia. I chose a size M because my waist is 94 cm. After wearing it for a few days, I found the size M too tight. I was able to exchange the belt for a size L without any difficulty.

An inguinal hernia belt absolutely does what it’s supposed to do. It keeps the hernia “inside” without you even noticing it’s there. It’s a different story when you’re cycling or driving. Then the belt gets in the way and constricts your abdomen a bit—not the padding, but the hip belt. This is a bit of a problem for me, as I’m 70+ and cycle quite a lot for health reasons. I’m also considering trying a hernia support belt; I might experience less discomfort.
