Your orthosis ordered online may, in some cases, be reimbursed through your health insurance. The medical indication, intended use and duration will determine whether you pay your health insurance or your hospital for your device.

Will your brace be reimbursed by your health insurance company?

To qualify for reimbursement, however, you must meet a number of conditions:

• You are in possession of a recent referral from a medical specialist (orthopedist, rheumatologist, and so on).
• Intended use is permanent and long-term / chronic (daily, longer than 6 months)
• The product is not used for sports

With some health insurers, a referral from a general practitioner is sufficient, especially in the case of a repeat facility. You can check this with your family doctor or health insurance company.

We do ask that you consider the following:
When your orthosis is covered by the basic health insurance, it will irrevocably be deducted from your excess. When your insurance company uses cluster pricing*, this can mean that you pay a lot more for your orthosis than when you buy it on your own account. Therefore, always check in advance whether this is the case, to avoid unpleasant surprises.

Because your reimbursed device is subject to wear and tear, you are entitled to a replacement orthosis after a certain period of time. On average, ready-made (standard) orthoses must be used for at least 24 months. You can find the exact period of use in the policy conditions of your own insurance.
