Your orthosis ordered online may, in some cases, be reimbursed through your health insurance. The medical indication, intended use and duration will determine whether you pay your health insurance or your hospital for your device.

Will your brace be reimbursed by the health insurance company?

To qualify for reimbursement, however, you must meet a number of conditions:

  • You are in possession of a recent referral from a medical specialist (orthopedist, rheumatologist, and so on).
  • Intended use is permanent and long-term / chronic (daily, longer than 6 months)
  • The product is not used for sports

With some health insurers, a referral from a general practitioner is sufficient, especially in the case of a repeat facility. You can check this with your family doctor or health insurance company.

We do ask that you consider the following:
When your orthosis is covered by the basic health insurance, it will irrevocably be deducted from your excess. When your insurance company uses cluster pricing*, this can mean that you pay a lot more for your orthosis than when you buy it on your own account. Therefore, always check in advance whether this is the case, to avoid unpleasant surprises.

Because your reimbursed device is subject to wear and tear, you are entitled to a replacement orthosis after a certain period of time. On average, ready-made (standard) orthoses must be used for at least 24 months. You can find the exact period of use in the policy conditions of your own insurance.

If you do want to claim your product from your health insurance company, it is best to contact our customer service in advance. They will inform you about the steps to take in the claim process.

This information may change per year, ProBrace does its best to provide this information as accurate as possible, but no rights can be derived from this. For the exact reimbursements we recommend you to always check your own policy conditions or to contact our customer service.

*Cluster pricing: Some insurers use cluster pricing. This means that fixed fees are given for certain services, regardless of the actual cost. If you want to know whether your insurance company uses cluster pricing, you must ask your health insurer.

Levertijd bleek veel langer dan beloofd. Mail gestuurd dat ik de bestelling daarom wilde annuleren. Positief is dat ik snel een creditnota en terugbetaling kreeg. Een persoonlijke reactie heb ik niet gekregen.
