Bursitis shoulder

A bursitis can cause significant pain in the shoulder. Men and women are equally likely to develop bursitis. People over the age of 30 have a higher risk.

To understand what bursitis is, it’s important to know where the bursa is located. The body is made up of bones, which provide structure. To allow movement, the body has joints, muscles, and tendons.

A bursa is found at a joint it sits between the bone and the tendon. It is filled with fluid and acts as a cushion, allowing smooth, pain-free movement without friction between bone and tendon.

When this bursa becomes inflamed, it may feel warm, red, swollen, and painful. Moving the shoulder can become very uncomfortable.
