Basketball is a fast and intensive sport. Accelerating, stopping, pivoting, jumping and landing puts a lot of pressure on the muscles and joints. An injury is therefore quickly lurking. Due to the rough surface and the fact that basketball is a contact sport, many basketball players have to deal with a sprained ankle or sometimes even a torn ankle band in their sporting careers. To get a single completely stable again, you have to train a lot and often. To protect the ankle in regular training and competitions, a good ankle brace can offer a solution. Many athletes fear that an ankle brace weakens the muscles, to some extent this is also true, but only when a brace is worn constantly. When a brace is only used during competitions, training or when an ankle is painful, this will not be the case. The ankle brace then only provides stability and prevents a new injury. A well-fitting knee brace provides support and can provide relief during basketball without hindering you. Knee braces can be divided into two types:
A rigid knee brace is characterized by a rigid frame (such as carbon or aluminum) and hinges. These braces are not suitable for netball. A soft knee brace provides compression and support with (silicone) pads and / or flexible ribs. In addition, a soft knee brace can serve as a knee protector in the event of a fall, in this way it is easy to prevent abrasions or blisters on the knee.
With a hamstring injury or muscle tear, exercise and sports can be very painful. A good compressive bandage partly takes over the function of the muscle membranes and provides a comfortable pressure and compression on the muscle belly. This will make it less painful to start exercising and moving again. This type of thigh bandages should be pretty tight, but should not prevent blood flow.
