A walker is a walking aid on wheels that allows people to move themselves without needing help. A walker is easiest to describe as a walking frame with three or four wheels.

Wheels – Rollators can be fitted with large and small wheels. Large wheels are suitable for driving over uneven terrain, small wheels are more suitable for indoor use.

Tires – Tires can be filled with air or solid. Solid tires are only suitable for indoor use. The advantage of solid tires is, of course, that they cannot puncture. Tires filled with air are more comfortable and suitable for outdoor use, the disadvantage is that they can puncture.

The correct setting of your rollator

A walker can be used correctly if it is set correctly. With an incorrectly adjusted walker you run the risk of walking with your shoulders raised, which can result in pain in the neck and shoulders. Fortunately, setting a rollator correctly is very simple:

Stand up straight and let your arms hang at your sides
The heart of the handles should be flush with your wrists in this position
If this is not the case, you can easily adjust the handles higher or lower.
