Additionally, a layer of AirSanmed™ material is placed between the splint and the skin to reduce pressure and the risk of skin injury. The outer vapor barrier is washable and can be disinfected chemically or with steam. The material is perforated and laminated with pressure-relieving foam, making it breathable and reducing the pressure from aluminum splints. The soft, breathable cotton is pH-neutral and skin-friendly, certified with OekoTex Standard 100.

Two dorsal supports prevent excessive hand extension and involuntary wrist movements. The brace has three circumferential straps at three key anatomical points: the metacarpal bones, the radiocarpal and distal radioulnar joints, and the interosseous membrane.
