Basko ASO Ankle Brace – Worldwide favourite!
An ankle brace that is widely used for running, football, tennis, badminton and volleyball. The most important feature of the ASO ankle braces is the strap system (figure-8 strap), which ensures optimal fixation of the ankle joint and prevents inversion and eversion (the twisting of the ankle). The material (durable ballistic nylon) also contributes to long-lasting support. In addition, the ankle braces can be adjusted very well due to the lacing system at the front and the three main elements for a successful brace treatment are present: non-elastic bands, fixation of the calcaneus (heel bone) and a circular closure.

Choosing the correct size is important to prevent irritation and pressure points. Use your shoe size as a guideline; however, for the exact size, measure the instep/heel circumference over a sports sock or stocking. If you are between sizes, we recommend choosing the smaller size.

NB: The MedSpec A.S.O. can be worn on both the left and right side. Unfortunately, the white version is no longer produced.
Tips:
- We recommend wearing a high (sports) sock under the brace to protect the skin from possible seams.
- After use, always close the Velcro straps to prevent dirt and lint from affecting the fastening.
- Preferably wash the ankle brace by hand or in a laundry bag/pillowcase on a delicate cycle. Let it air dry, do not tumble dry!

Frequently asked questions
The sides of the brace press or dig into my ankles, what can I do?+
The Basko ASO ankle brace includes plastic support stays on both sides of the brace for additional ankle stability. For some users, these stays may cause pressure or discomfort around the ankles, especially during prolonged use or if you have sensitive ankles.
The support stays can easily be removed from the brace. The ankle brace will still provide firm and stable support, but may feel more comfortable around the ankles. This can be especially helpful during daily activities or when less maximum support is needed.
Can I still wear shoes with this brace?+
Yes, in most cases the Basko ASO ankle brace can be worn inside regular (sports) shoes. Thanks to its slim design, the brace fits into almost any lace-up shoe. Lace-up shoes are strongly recommended, as they allow you to properly adjust both the brace and the shoe for optimal stability and comfort.
Please note that the brace does take up some extra space inside the shoe. If you wear tight or narrow shoes, it may help to loosen the laces slightly or choose shoes with a bit more room.
How should I wash and clean the brace?+
We recommend washing the brace by hand or at a maximum temperature of 40°C using a mild detergent. Always close all hook-and-loop fasteners before washing. This helps prevent damage to other clothing and preserves the fastening strength of the straps.
Do not use bleach or dry clean the brace. The brace is also not suitable for tumble drying. After washing, allow the product to air dry.

They fit perfectly, provide plenty of support, and relieve the ankle. I had to have some cushioning material applied to the back of my calf because the ankle strap was a bit painful. But that calf is also quite a bit thicker than my other one.
A small detail I don’t like that much: they’re NOT available in skin color; TOO BAD! Black stands out, and white looks like it’s bandaged. I’d rather not see them all day in a slipper or open shoe…
