Night Splint for Plantar Fasciitis and Achilles Tendon Pain
This prefabricated ankle-foot orthosis is designed for use at night as part of the conservative treatment of plantar fasciitis (heel spur complaints) and Achilles tendon problems. The night splint holds the foot in slight dorsiflexion, keeping the plantar fascia underneath the foot and the Achilles tendon gently stretched for a prolonged period.
The night splint is supplied as standard with an additional wedge. This can be used to increase the stretch applied to the plantar fascia underneath the foot. This may be particularly helpful for heel spur and plantar fasciitis complaints.
For support during the day, the night splint can be combined with (soft) insoles.
Please note: this plantar fasciitis night splint can be worn on either the left or right foot.
How do you use the plantar fasciitis night splint?
For optimal use, it is recommended to wear the night splint every night for several weeks. When putting it on, adjust the splint so that you feel a noticeable but comfortable stretch underneath the foot.

How does the night splint work?
The night splint comfortably holds the foot in a controlled degree of dorsiflexion. This is the position in which the foot and toes are brought towards the shin.
This creates a gentle, prolonged stretch of the soft tissues of the plantar fascia and Achilles tendon. This is also known as Low Load Prolonged Stretch (LLPS).
During the night, the plantar fascia and Achilles tendon naturally tend to remain in a shortened position. By holding the foot in a gently stretched position, the night splint can help limit this shortening.
