Summer holiday: How to keep your body fit
And why a good brace or insoles is indispensable!
The summer holiday is the perfect time to completely unwind. Relaxing, enjoying the nice weather and spending time with family or friends. But… how do you make sure your body also stays fit during these weeks? And what should you pay attention to if you want to stay active without complaints?
Keep moving: also on holiday
On holiday we often do things we do less at home: long walks, cycling, sports, or just strolling through a new city. Movement keeps your muscles flexible, your joints healthy and makes you feel more energetic.
But sometimes you may experience pain in your feet, knees or back. Especially if you suddenly move more (or differently) than at home. Sounds familiar? You’re certainly not the only one.

Prevent complaints by supporting both feet and joints
Insoles (orthotic insoles)
Orthotic insoles, also called inlays, are essential for those who want to keep moving comfortably. They support your feet, correct possible alignment issues and optimally distribute pressure. This not only helps your feet, but also prevents complaints in the knees, hips or back.
Are you using new insoles for the first time? Then build up wearing them gradually, so your feet can get used to them. This way you can enjoy your holiday without annoying discomfort.
Our advice is to take two pairs of insoles with you: one pair for your active shoes and one pair for regular shoes. Both the GO Medical flat foot insoles and the Fitpace EcoDasher Plus modular insoles are very suitable for this.
Braces: extra support where needed
Not only your feet, but other joints may also need extra support during your holiday. Think of your ankle, knee, wrist or even your back. Braces provide stability for weak or vulnerable joints and can help prevent or reduce complaints. Do you easily suffer from an unstable ankle, painful knee or overused wrist? A brace can be just the extra support you need.
Braces are available in various types and sizes: from lightweight ankle braces to sturdy knee or back braces. They are easy to wear, often fit comfortably inside your (sports) shoes, and help you move longer, more comfortably and more safely. This way, you get more out of your holiday without worrying about your joints. Read our page about the different support classes per brace!

Tips to stay fit and pain-free:
- Start wearing your insoles or brace at home, so you’re used to them before departure.
- Always take your inlays and any brace with you, even if you think you won’t need them. Better safe than sorry!
- Alternate shoes regularly and give your feet some rest.
- Listen to your body. Feeling pain? Take a break in time and use your brace or insoles as extra support.
